    NEPA Investigates Fish Kill in Portmore, St Catherine

    Yesterday at approximately 12PM the National Environment and Planning Agency received reports of a fish kill in the Bridgeport area of Portmore, St Catherine.

    The Agency’s pollution response team was immediately deployed and conducted a joint investigation with the National Fisheries Authority.

    The National Environment and Planning Agency is advising the public to take precautions as the nation gears up for Tropical Depression 9 which is expected to commence impacting Jamaica and its territorial waters by Saturday afternoon.

    MEN FINED FOR HUNTING IN GAME RESERVE

    Ron Williams and Andrew Taylor were charged and prosecuted by the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA)/National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) for breaches of the Wild Life Protection Act, 1945. The individuals charged pleaded guilty to the when they appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday, 27 September 2022.

    The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) has concluded its investigations of the recent fish kill which occurred at the Dawkins Pond in St Catherine, on 21 September 2022. The Agency has surmised that the die-off of these fish was due to low oxygen levels in the water.
