The Sharon O’ Connor Documentation Centre
The Sharon O’ Connor Documentation Centre is the special library of the National Environment and Planning Agency, and is a Unit of the Public Education and Corporate Communication Branch. The library is a merger of the collections from the libraries of the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) and the Town Planning Department (TPD). It is a member of the Government Libraries Information Network and Associates (GLINA) and the Library and Information Association of Jamaica (LIAJA)
Our specialised collection contains literature covering environmental and planning topics in various formats such as:
- Pollution and Wastes
- Environmental Impact Assessments
- Monitoring Reports
- Environmental Thematic Reports and Parish Profiles
- Ask a Librarian
- Online Catalogue
- Reference/referral services
- Loan service (staff only)
- Reprographic services (Photo copying and scanning)
Inter-library loan (staff only)
Preparation of bibliographies and booklists
Wireless internet access (WIFI)
Viewing in-house and loans of audio-visual collection
The Documentation Centre is accessible to the public by appointment between the hours of 09:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. Our friendly and efficient librarians are willing to help you identify the information you need and direct you to alternative sources if we do not have it in-house. Search our Online Catalogue, it provides a list of the Agency's collection of books, magazines, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), monitoring reports, research papers, journals, newspaper articles, et. al on mainly environmental and planning issues. Some documents in our catalogue can viewed online or downloaded.
