Joint Statement on the death of Wilford Edmondson - NEPA and UDC

                                                         STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF WILFORD EDMONDSON

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) and Urban Development Corporation (UDC) acknowledge the tragic passing of Mr Wilford Edmondson and express condolences to his family on the loss of their loved one.

An incident response team from NEPA and the UDC visited the location on Sunday, August 26, 2018. The NEPA is in dialogue with the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and awaits the completion of the JCF’s investigation into Mr Edmondson’s death. In the interim, the Agencies have commenced the process to capture the animal.

Members of the public are reminded to exercise caution in areas, which are clearly identified as natural crocodile habitats, observe the posted warning signs and refrain from interacting with the crocodiles.

NEPA reminds the public to immediately contact the Agency at 1-888-991-5005 or 876- 754-7540 if crocodiles are seen in areas where they may pose a threat to human life.
