NEPA hosts 2026 Game Bird Hunters’ Forum

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) along with the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) is inviting licensed hunters and other interested stakeholders to participate in its 2026 Game Bird Hunters’ Forum.  The virtual forum is set for Thursday, August 13 at 4:00 p.m. Participants will be briefed on important changes to this year’s bird shooting season as well as regulations governing the staging of the event.

The changes to the 2026 game bird hunting season were necessary in view of the impact of Hurricane Melissa on the nation’s bird population and the need for conservation of the species. Representatives from NEPA, the NRCA and other relevant stakeholders will provide guidance and details on the shortened four-weekend hunting season, changes to bag limits, restrictions on the hunting of White-crowned Pigeons in specified parishes, and areas where no game bird hunting is permitted among other matters.

The forum affords hunters the opportunity to ask questions and receive clarification directly from the relevant technical and legal experts.  NEPA and the NRCA are therefore encouraging all licensed hunters to attend the forum to ensure that they are fully informed on the regulations and other pertinent information before the start of the 2026 game bird hunting season. A link to the meeting can be accessed on the Agency’s social media pages @nepajamaica on Facebook, Instagram and X (twitter).
