The National
Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), in association with the
Jamaica Information Service –Television Division, will present the
second in a series of features highlighting the roles and functions of
the Agency.
The television
feature, which will be fifteen minutes long, will serve to clarify the
core functions of NEPA, as well as explore some common misconceptions
of what the Agency can and cannot do under law. The television feature
will also examine planning and environmental legislations, and explain
the ways in which the Agency balances its planning, land use and
environmental portfolios.
The NEPA
television feature will be aired during the JIS’ television programme
Jamaica Magazine on Wednesday June 13, 2007. Jamaica Magazine is aired
on Television Jamaica (TVJ) at 5:00 p.m., CVM Television at 5:30 p.m.,
and Love TV at 8:00 p.m.
Earlier this
year the Agency produced a television feature which focused on
Jamaica’s endangered and protected species, and highlighted the local
and international laws that protect them. The feature also provided
the public with insight on how to protect these natural treasures.
Other features
in the series will include: work being done in the Agency; Jamaica’s
protected areas; the various ecosystems, and the role of the public in
preserving our natural treasures.
