Fish Kill in Kingston Harbour

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) and the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management ODPEM) are reporting that a fish kill has occurred in the Kingston Harbour in the vicinity of the Harbour View Round-about and Carib Cement Company.   The cause of the fish kill has not yet been determine, however, teams from NEPA and the Marine Police were on location this morning conducting investigations. NEPA has collected water and fish samples for testing.   

In the meantime, NEPA has received reports that a number of people have been seen removing fish from the beach.  The Agency is cautioning persons not to engage in this practice, as consumption of the dead fish may be harmful. 

NEPA and ODPEM will provide further information as the investigation progresses.
